Raleigh, N.C. — Eight members of the Raleigh Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit and one member of the Sniper Team won first place at the 2009 North Carolina Justice Academy SWAT Competition held in Salemburg, N.C., March 25 and 26.
Raleigh officers competed against twelve agencies from across the state in seven events designed to test marksmanship, teamwork, physical fitness and endurance.
RPD’s team placed first in four events, second in two others and third in another, earning the coveted “Golden Eagle” trophy and the distinction of being named the best SWAT team in North Carolina.
