RALEIGH, N.C. — Saint Augustine’s College has received a $2.1 million grant from the state Department of Commerce to improve targeted areas in the surrounding community.

The grant is part of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The college plans to use its partnership with Builders of Hope, a non-profit organization, to make the community stronger by enabling people to own and have equity in a home.

"From financing the building of affordable housing to the creation of jobs for the citizens of the Wake County community, this grant enables the college to continue its long history of commitment to the economic development of Wake County in general and the Southeast Raleigh community specifically,” college President Dianne Boardley Suber said in a statement.
