Carowinds amusement park announced on Tuesday a season pass program for the summer of 2009.

The WOW PASS costs $59.99 for park visitors ages 3 and older and includes unlimited admission to the 112-acre combination amusement and water park from March 28-Sept. 7. The pass does not include parking.

The pass is an effort to lure families who might be cutting back on vacation spending, Carowinds' Marketing Director John Taylor said.

“This new program will allow families to spend more time with one another, enjoy the fun of a world-class amusement park, and still save money in the long run,” he said.

The WOW PASS is available for sale from www.carowinds.com or at the Carowinds main gate on any public operating day.

Standard season pass costs a little more but gives you free parking. Get 1 standard season pass and get the others in the family the wow pass, you can save some money.

This is the same season pass they have had for several years. Why is this newsworthy?

They have alsways had a season pass, but this is a discounted rate. It's only a few dollars more than a single day pass.

Haven't they always offered a season pass? I remember my inlaws having them several years ago when we went to Carowinds with them.
