Pinetops, N.C. — Faculty and students at SouthWest Edgecombe High School started Tuesday with a moment of silence for social studies teacher Mark Anthony Lanunziata.
Lanunziata died Sunday at his home in Greenville, the school said. Assistant Principal Marc Whichard shared the news with students Tuesday morning.
Lanunziata taught at the school for more than a decade. He graduated from Wyoming Area High School in 1975 and earned his Bachelor of Arts in history and education in 1979 from Kings College in Pennsylvania.
