Raeford, N.C. — Unilever is granting $10,000 to the “Hunger Relief for Kids” backpack program in Hoke County. The program, a service of Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina, provides needy children with a backpack full of food to take home on weekends.
The grant will fund weekly backpacks for 100 students at three Hoke County elementary schools, food bank director David Griffin said.
Unilever, which has a plant in Raeford, has a long-standing relationship with Second Harvest.
