Cary, N.C. — The gymnasium at the Herb Young Community Center has been named in honor of North Carolina State University womens basketball coach Kay Yow.
Town leaders wanted to honor Yow, a Cary resident, for her contributions to women's athletics.
N.C. State officials announced this week that Yow wouldn't coach the rest of this season as she battles a recurrence of breast cancer.
