Volunteers with the Eastern Bluebird Rescue Group build places for their beloved birds to call home. On Monday, they reached a milestone -- 100,000 birdhouses built.
The houses protect bluebirds, which have seen their habitat threatened by development. Houses are available from any branch of the State Employees Credit Union at a cost of $10.

Breaking News: Cary police arrested a man Thursday night who allegedly tried to strike an officer with his vehicle in the parking lot of Buffalo Lanes bowling alley on High House Road. He missed the officer and struck a police vehicle, at which point, the officer fired one shot. The suspect was not hit.
