Louisburg College narrows search for leader

LOUISBURG, N.C. — The search for a president at Louisburg College may be entering the final stages.
Michael Clyburn left the post in June after just six months on the job.
His replacement will have to deal with the school's financial troubles, which lead the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to threaten to lift the school's accreditation.
Dr. Mark David La Branche, senior vice president of external affairs at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala., and Dr. Judy Blankenship Cheatham, director of the TESOL graduate program at Greensboro College, will tour the campus and be interviewed by faculty and staff next week, the school announced Thursday.
The college board of trustees expects to vote Nov. 21 to choose a new president.
Louisburg College was put on probation by the accrediting body in June. If the school's financial picture doesn't improve by the end of the year, it risks losing its accreditation, which would affect students' eligibility for financial aid.
