The Forest Aviary will be closed Nov. 3-7. The Africa Pavilion will be closed Nov. 17-21. All other zoo exhibits and facilities will be remain open during those times.

<b>ASHEBORO, N.C.</b> — Annual maintenance will close two exhibits at the North Carolina Zoo in coming weeks.<br />

The Forest Aviary will be closed Nov. 3-7. The Africa Pavilion will be closed Nov. 17-21. All other zoo exhibits and facilities will be remain open during those times.<br />

Zoo staff will use this time to prune trees and work on renovation and construction projects inside the exhibits.

The 12-year-old boy had been required to sleep in a tube-like tent, enclosed by a solid plastic sheet. Upon discovering that the zipper for the tent was broken, the report says, "staff needed a zip tie out of the tool bag."

According to the Sampson County Sheriff's Office, a school resource officer discovered the body of a man inside a vehicle at Hobbton Middle School athletic field. Authorities believe the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
