Posted August 20, 2008

— A Garner couple hit the jackpot in the state lottery. Cecil Stephenson and her husband, Waverly, claimed their prize – a new Ford pickup, on Wednesday.

Cecil Stephenson said the prize comes right on time. It will replace her 1989 Toyota.

She has been lucky with vehicles in the past. She won a 1965 Rambler for being the top salesperson for the Garner News.

If she's smart, she'll trade it as a down payment on a new Toyota truck.

I played the lottery once...where's my truck?

Maybe this story is published over other contests because it is publicizes the lottery. Follow the money...

Garner - I think the NCEL pays the taxes on the truck for them.

    more power to them!

I'm guess here, but she'll owe about $8600 in income tax on that truck. Maybe she'll get that for that '89 Toy.

They need to win another lottery now to feed their new gas guzzler.

Soon, American cars will be like cell phones. They will give them away and just make their $ off of the monthly gas and service fees.

Good for her, but replacing an 89 Toyota with ford pickup? I hope she starts saving for repairs and gas or just sell the ford, someone will buy it.

now i've always supported wral when people bash them about being selective on their story choices or posting less than important stories. this one just offends me. i live in garner and my husband and i won a 2008 silverado from chevy and they didn't find that news!
