State Archives gets gift of black history documents
The records of the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People, the North Carolina Black Leadership Caucus and items from the presidential campaigns of Jesse Jackson were donated to the State Archives department.
Posted — UpdatedDURHAM, N.C. — In a ceremony on the campus of North Carolina Central University on Tuesday the State Archives department accepted a significant collection of black history documents from Durham organizations.
The records of the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People, the North Carolina Black Leadership Caucus and items from the presidential campaigns of Jesse Jackson were donated to the department.
The North Carolina Office of Archives and History will microfilm, scan and store the items, and provide copies to be made available for research at NCCU.
Founded in 1903, the State Archives is the third oldest state archival program in the nation.
