Durham science student wins award

— A Durham senior was recognized Wednesday for her work in biotechnology.

Mingjuan Zhang, 18, will take home a $7,500 award as the winner of the International BioGENEius Challenge.

Zhang presented for her study of the production of biodegradable plastics to a panel of scientists, educators and biotechnology leaders.
