The National Park Service will open the bases of the Bodie Island and Ocracoke Island lighthouses to tourists this summer.

OCRACOKE, N.C. — The National Park Service will open the bases of the Bodie Island and Ocracoke Island lighthouses to tourists this summer.

The towers will remain closed due to structural concerns.

Visiting hours may vary, so the best advice is check online before your visit or ask a park ranger.

Both lighthouses are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
