2 schools get pedestrian safety funds

RALEIGH, N.C. — Two Triangle elementary schools received $250,000 grants Friday to improve pedestrian safety.

Olive Chapel Elementary in Apex and Fayetteville Street Elementary in Durham can use the money to improve sidewalks, intersections and bike lanes that wil allow more students to walk to school.

The money is part of a $1.6 million grant given out by the Department of Transportation.
