Zoo applies donations to growth

— The North Carolina Zoo got two recent contributions to fund expansion plans.

The North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center awarded an $80,314 grant to be used in the Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park in Scotland Neck. The park is a home for rare birds amid acres of wetlands. The grant will be used to improve accessibility via walkways and observation platforms.

The North Carolina Bar Association donated $10,000 to help the zoo build the Valerie H. Schindler Wildlife Learning Center. The center provides housing for apprentices and interns working at the zoo.

This reminded me that I need to go to the zoo again. I like the otter exhibit a lot. And last time I went there was a bunch of stuff closed due to heat.
