Working dog retires from school career
A Nash County school said farewell to a very special member of its staff Friday. Zeus, the reading therapy dog, retired after 10 years of service to teachers and students.
Posted — UpdatedELM CITY, N.C. — Coopers Elementary School in Elm City said farewell to a very special member of its staff Friday. Zeus, the reading therapy dog, retired after 10 years of service to teachers and students.
During his tenure with the Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools, Zeus inspired hundreds of children to read to him.
On Friday, he celebrated with cake, and a pile of retirement gifts was donated to a local shelter in his name.
The school will create a scholarship fund his honor.
