Durham, N.C. — Adrian Matlock, the manager of the semi-professional Carolina Kakalacks baseball team, was named the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club Volunteer of the Year during a ceremony held Wednesday night in Durham.
For the past two years, Matlock has volunteered as a coach for the Club’s summer baseball league. This summer, he coached a co-ed team of children 9 to 12-years-old.
"(He) never missed a game, practiced all the other days of the week, was there for every Longmeadow Park cleanup, every parent meeting,” Club Executive Director Joshua Dorsette said in a statement.
