An 18-wheeler crashed into a barrier on Interstate 95 in Harnett County on Sunday, starting a fire and blocking multiple northbound lanes near Dunn for much of the day.
The crash occurred around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, closing the northbound lanes of I-95 between Exit 73 (Dunn/421) and Exit 75 (Jonesboro Road), according to Harnett County Emergency Services.

The crash occurred in a construction zone near the large Rooms to Go warehouse and distribution center. The State Highway Patrol confirmed the driver suffered minor injuries to his hand, and the tractor-trailer was the only vehicle involved.
The road was still closed at 12 p.m., and crews were working to remove debris from the roadway. Much of the road reopened by 1 p.m.
The truck was delivering dry goods, according to SHP, and a hazmat team was dispatched to help with the cleanup of trash, soot and ash from the fire, but there was nothing hazardous being transported.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Dunn Emergency Services, the Benson Fire Department, the Plain View Fire Department, the Meadow Fire Department, Dunn police, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office and Harnett County EMS were all part of the response.
