Most scientists say the debate over global warming is over. They say it’s happening, and humans are speeding it up. In North Carolina, leaders in both government and business seem to be taking the threat seriously and are planning for the future. Just how could global warming affect our state? That’s the subject of this WRAL Focal Point documentary called “Hot Topic.”

You a scientist? I'll believe all the science if you don't mind.

And yes, the world is older than 6,000 years.

Does global warming really exist? Yes. But there is alot you are not told, and for a reason.

First, global warming exists. However, it has been around alot longer than the automobile or the factory. This wave of global warming has gone on for a couple hundred years now and in the last 50 it has actually slowed! The supporing data is out there and easy to find. Global warming, and cooling, is a process that has gone on for longer than man has been on the earth. Evidence is the forests and camps found under the ice as it melts. Makes you wonder how trees can grow and man made objects can be found if we are just causing this to happen now.

Second, why are you not told about this? Tax dollars. If global warming can be pushed as a real problem to the American people there is yet another big reason to impose new taxes and exert more control into our everyday lives.

Power, money and control.

It's that simple! Don't believe global warming as mass media describes!

The media can play such a powerful role in educating the public and you, WRAL and Bill Leslie, have done that tonight through your program on global warming and how it is impacting our beautiful state. Thank you for an excellent report on such a critical issue. I learned a lot about how North Carolina is combatting this problem and look forward to more reporting on this topic. Well done!!

Kudos to WRAL for another quality report done with integrity. Thank you for raising our awareness to an ever-present problem in our world today. I always look forward to your fine journalism projects, Bill.
