Focal Point: Overweight State

Nearly two-thirds of adults in North Carolina are overweight or obese, putting them at greater risk for high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes. About 30 percent of the state’s children are overweight or at risk of becoming overweight, increasing their chances of serious health problems as well.

WRAL’s new “Focal Point” documentary, “Overweight State,” examines North Carolina’s weight problem, including its causes, costs and cures. The program is hosted by WRAL news anchor and reporter Monica Laliberte.
