WRAL’s new Focal Point documentary, “Another Mother’s Child,” examines the issue and looks at its impact on the state. The program is hosted by WRAL news anchor David Crabtree.

For most of her life, Mechell Thaxton bounced around from foster parents, relatives and a mother she hardly knew. But after a childhood defined by instability and struggle, Thaxton now has a permanent home, is graduating from high school and is about to go to college. Watch her story.
