Cary Fire Department investigates large fire at a home Saturday

The Cary Fire Department is working to learn what caused a ‘significant’ fire at a home on Saturday.

Crews were called around 4:47 p.m. to reports of a fire at a home on Daybreak Bluff Drive. When they arrived, crews said flames had engulfed the home.

Investigators believe the fire may have started near the back deck of the home before spreading to the roof.

Officials said crews from Morrisville and Durham Fire departments are assisting to put out the fire. The fire is currently under control, officials said.

Neighbors say they are now concerned for the family and children who live in the home.

“I’m glad that they are safe and I just hope that you know that house gets rebuilt soon,” said neighbor, Praveen Seela.

The American Red Cross was on the scene assisting the family. WRAL News is still working to learn the full extent of the damage at the home.

Crews were also called to reports of smoke at a home at 4:53 p.m. on Shirley Drive. Although no fire has been detected, officials said crews are still on the scene working to learn what caused the smoke.

No injuries were reported in either incident. The cause of both is still under investigation.
