Q: What is the hourly rate of bus drivers? (A few years ago, it was "exposed" that bus drivers wages were very very low. They were given small raises. Every re-districting makes for more bus routes and incredibly inefficient moving of kids around. What would it cost to do more raises??)
- Laura McGoogan, Cary
A: The starting rate of pay for a Wake County school bus driver is $11.81 per hour. They are employed a minimum of six hours per day, according to Wake County Public Schools Director of Transportation Alvin McNeill.
