Our flight was delayed by almost three hours in Washington DC last night. We took advantage and got to know one another at a wine bar in the airport. I also learned some new math...
Plane delay + wine bar + Marshall Fellows = Good Time!
We flew into Brussels and took the train to Paris today. I actually got some good sleep on the plane. Of the sixteen of us only three slept, so most are napping now.
Two photos you should check out...1) the shot of the NCSU / UVA score on my phone. Jeff Merritt and I are lovin it...Go Pack! 2) the shot of the bathroom sign in the Brussels airport...I guess everyone knows what it means after being on a plane for that long.
The weather is awesome and I'm about to hit the tourist spots before a briefing tonight at 6pm and a meeting at 7:30.
What is this Skype stuff?
I just called home using Skype. Skype is a voice over internet protocol (VOIP) technology.
Never mind that...the important thing is I can call home for free...that's right, nada, nuthin, zip, zilch. I use free WiFi to access the internet and skype software to talk with Tamara and the boys.
The quality is pretty good, a little tin-cannish, but solid. It sure beats the $1.29 roaming fee on my cell phone.
I've posted a couple of skype links to the side if you'd like to learn more.
I've also got some photos from the airport, the wine bar, and the train.
Until next time...au revoir...

Skype rocks. It took a friend of mine and I >1 year of trying to video conference across platforms (me Mac, he PC) and then I found Skype. Perfect from the first time! You can't beat the price for global communications! So if anyone needs to video chat Mac to PC, Skype is the best solution to date.
I've even heard of people using PocketPC phones with data plans installing Skype and talking to people across the world in the same way but without being tied to a WiFi connection. The idea of any type of free communication like this is crazy.
Anyway, glad to know you'll be blogging. I've added you to my Skype list although I know you will be very busy. Enjoy!!
