Lauren Redman, 22, died outside her West Raleigh apartment at 3010 North Walnut Creek Parkway in the early-morning hours of Nov. 8, 2005. Byron Waring and Joseph Sanderlin were charged with first-degree murder and a third man, George Sasser, was been charged with accessory to murder after the fact. Waring was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death in July 2007; Waring pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in September 2008 and was sentenced to life in prison. As of September 2008, Sasser's case has not gone to trial.
