The Wake County Public School System on Monday launched a new, centralized customer service center to help parents frustrated by busing issues.

Instead of calling one of 15 transportation districts across the county, parents and staff may now call 919-856-7890 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday to reach a representative at the Transportation Customer Service Center.

Administrators said any calls placed to district offices will be automatically rerouted to the new number. Calls who reach the center after hours will be asked to leave a detailed voice message.

Officials said the voice mail capacity has been increased, following complaints from callers that mailboxes were full.

so they hired phone reps instead of bus drivers!

It took Wake County HOW MANY weeks to implement the common concept of a centralized customer service center for bussing. Usually this is something that is implemented on Day 1 of a crisis. Shame on Wake County. How slow is the transportation administration?

They finally increased the voice mail capacity. They have only been told for the past 10 years that the voice mail boxes are always full.
