Wake opens magnet schools selection process
Wake County parents wanting to enroll their children in magnet schools for the 2012-13 school year can now do so online.

The Wake County Public School System launched an online application Monday afternoon.
Parents have until 10 p.m. Dec. 19 to apply, and they will be notified between Dec. 20 and Jan. 13 if their child was selected for one of their magnet choices.
The process is part of the school system's new student assignment plan, which allows parents to rank their preference when it comes to where their children go to school.
The so-called choice selection period for parents who aren't interested in the magnet program begins Jan. 17 and runs through Feb. 24.
