A Sanderson High School social studies teacher was named Teacher of the Year in Wake County Thursday night.

Stephanie Rhodes teaches Civics and Economics and Honors Sociology. She is the student council advisor and varsity volleyball coach.

“She is the teacher sharing ideas, activities, web sites and insights at each meeting,” said Meredith Carle, chairman of the Sanderson Social Studies Department.

Rhodes comes from a family of teachers. She recalled accompanying her mother, a fifth-grade teacher, to work.

She has been at Sanderson for her entire 10-year teaching career.

Too bad that you didn't learn from this teacher. It could have helped you overcome your obvious shortcomings in education and class.

"congratulations to her...too bad the democrats in this state have been holding down her salary for the last several decades in exchange for newer and larger entitlements"

I'm waiting for the first ever proposal by a republican to raise teacher salaries here in NC. In all the years I've been here, they have never agreed to a raise. It's always, "now is not the time", or "we need to give back more money to the people." That's why your rhetoric is just that. Modern day Republicans will never increase public school teachers pay. Their rigid anti-tax philosophy forbids it.

congratulations to her...too bad the democrats in this state have been holding down her salary for the last several decades in exchange for newer and larger entitlements

Sanderson is a hidden gem of a HS in Raleigh. For years they had a great principal who moved on but there are so many great teachers at SHS. So glad she won, my daughter had her in HS. Go Spartans! Leftwing
