Between fall 2010 and spring 2011, more students will graduate from North Carolina State University this year than ever before, the school announced.

Chancellor Randy Woodson awarded more than 4,500 degrees Saturday at RBC Center in Raleigh. James Rogers, chairman, president and CEO of Duke Energy, was the commencement speaker.

The university awarded 3,041 degrees in the fall.

I am an NC State graduate. I am friends with several graduate students currently enrolled at NC State, who all agree that the standards have dropped and NC State's reputation is slowly being flushed down the drain. I noticed a huge difference between my freshman and senior years at NC State (02-06) and am glad I didn't pursue my graduate degree there. The vet school and a select few programs is about all NC State has going for it: the school cannot hold a candle to most programs when compared to the other universities in the area. Just the truth. NC State is now the school you go to when you don't get in anywhere else. I'd love for them to turn it around, but I don't see it happening.

They're not lowering any standards. They've actually been upped since I was a freshman in 1999. For a public university, it was fine education I received. Sure, I could have gone to a private university, but why waste tens of thousands of dollars? I got hired over Duke and Carolina grads with the degrees I had. I'll take it. No complaints here.

Most of those with degrees in "hard" sciences will find jobs. To the rest... good luck!

What do you mean by that statement aquarius2856? I find NC State a quality school that enhances other UNC schools offerings so we all work together to have a good pool of educated folks working together for the betterment or NC. Maybe you should go back to OPEN YOUR EYES ED 101 and see if it helps your understanding. Maybe your blue eyes are turning brown.
Have a good day! Go STATE!!
