— A teacher at SouthWest Edgecombe High School has resigned, and the school's principal and testing coordinator were suspended as part of an investigation into inappropriate testing procedures at the school, Edgecombe County Public Schools officials said Wednesday.

Principal John Westberg has been placed on suspension with pay pending the outcome of the district's investigation, and the testing coordinator, whose name wasn't released, was suspended for 10 days without pay, officials said.

"Mr. Westberg will remain off campus during our investigation. We felt this would create an open environment for candid discussions,” Superintendent Wayne Talley said in a statement.

The testing irregularities came at the end of the summer school session, officials said. Administrators have been investigating the situation for several weeks, interviewing the summer school principal, teachers and students who were on campus during the session.

No other details were released.

Assistant Principal Douglas Edwards is temporarily in charge of SouthWest Edgecombe High.

"We will work hard to resolve all issues and concerns at SouthWest as soon as possible so we can all move forward with a successful school year,” Talley said.

Westberg has been principal at SouthWest Edgecombe High since July 2009. The school has about 950 students.

Okay, it is obvious that John Westberg himself, or people that have been brainwashed by him, are posting these erroneous comments about how good of an administrator he is. Anyone that knows anything about the school will say that since he has arrived it has fallen apart. For example:
    1. Students sell drugs in the bathrooms and are not discipled.
    2. There are fights on a daily basis and youtube proves it.
    3. Students wear inappropriate clothing/ listen to ipods in classrooms over the teaching/ and throw up gang signs in front of Mr. Westberg and nothing is done.
    4. This is NOT the first time Mr. Westberg has been kicked out of a school: go to http://whiteville.com/articles/2008/11/06/import/20081106-archive6.txt

    5. Oh, and don't let me forget the inappropriate sexual harassment comments he made to several female staff members.

Why suspended only ten day, fire all them and retest all students.

Lets see here---the testing irregularities came at the end of the summer school session--which probably was somewhere at the end of June or the middle of July. And they are just now announcing the investigation?? Wonder if I robbed a bank, the cops would give me a 5 month head start before they started investigating?? Just another reason why DPI needs to be seriously trimmed down..
