More and more Wake students take AP exams

In 2009-10, 10,288 students took an AP exam, an increase over the 9,800 who took the tests the year before.

More than 10,000 students in the Wake County Public School System took an Advanced Placement exam during the 2009-10 school year, according to a report issued Tuesday.

The participation rate has steadily increased over the past decade, while passing rate (those scoring a 3 or better on the 5-point scale) has remained about the same.

In 2009-10, 10,288 students took an AP exam, an increase over the 9,800 who took the tests the year before. The average score in '09-10 was a 3.39; 76.4 percent scored higher than a 3.
