Durham parents get chance to thank teachers

Durham Public Schools is asking that employees, parents and community recognize teachers for their good work during Teacher Appreciation Week.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham Public Schools is asking that employees, parents and community recognize teachers for their good work.

Through May 9, members of the public can send teachers an email saying "thank you" through the school system's Web site.

"In this school week, we say that 'teachers are the heart of our success,'" schools spokesman Michael Yarbrough said in a statement.

The email campaign coincides with Teacher Appreciation Week.
