Bill Cosby to speak at Shaw commencement

— Comedian and actor Bill Cosby will be the keynote speaker at Shaw University’s spring commencement ceremony, school officials said Monday.

Cosby will speak during the May 8 ceremony at Dorton Arena, university spokeswoman Tanya Wiley said. Graduation is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.

Founded in 1865, Shaw is the oldest black college in the South.

Previous commencement speakers have included “Today” host Al Roker and Congressman Elijah E. Cummings.
