Johnston County schools trying online bully-reporting system
The Johnston County Board of Education is expected to vote later this month on a measure that would toughen the district's policy on cyber-bullying.
Posted — UpdatedThe program is an effort to make it easier to report incidents and to help enforce the school system's anti-bullying policy.
It will start out in six schools – two elementary, two middle and two high schools – and then be made available to all schools in the district, school system spokeswoman Terri Sessom says.
The parent, student or teacher must identify themselves, their school and the name of the bully, as well as describe in detail the incident that occurred.
Complaints will then be forwarded to the school system's assistant superintendent for student services and to the school's principal, who has five days to address the issue.
