LEE COUNTY — With the heatwave we sometimes need a little something extra to boost our spirits. I dread the monthly installment to Progress but air conditioning has become a (almost) mandated part of life in the South. I know it's part of the old "Back when we were kids" mantra, but we really did grow up without air conditioning, or even whole house heat for that matter. Nowadays I often wonder if Life itself would go on for most people without their humdity and temperature controlled home and work enviroments.
To help each of you form a mental picture to deal with the heat, that is if you don't have a York Peppermint Patty at hand, here's an image from this past Christmas. The azaleas around my uncle and aunt's Sanford home were covered as was everyone's homes and yards that week of December.
I've gazed at this shot and other's like it this afternoon and it really hasn't helped me feel any cooler. Maybe it'll work for you. C'est la vie.
