OK, I'm mad ...

With the threat of a shutdown looming, military members stand not to get paid unless Congress passes an authorization bill which provides continuity for their paychecks.

IF this shutdown occurs, there is no telling how long it may or may not last, but one thing is certain - members of the military should get paid. Period.

Which is why I was disturbed to learn that TWO separate bills have been introduced in the House of Representatives which would do just that - ensure continuity of military pay - and nothing else.

HR 1297 and HR 1362.

Both bills were sent to multiple committees by Speaker Boehner, ostensibly to die there. He is preventing them from being sent up for a vote. This is unacceptable.

Two companion bills, S. 721 and S.724, have been introduced in the Senate as well.

Regardless of your political & ideological stances, we all love our soldiers. They should NOT be held hostage to this political gamesmanship & posturing. Call your representatives - NOW - and demand that HR 1297 & HR 1362 be released for an immediate vote, so that the Senate can take them up and get them to the President's desk for his signature.

These guys missing a second of pay is simply undamnacceptable.
