WAKE COUNTY — Just like Elvis leaving the building, the Ferry Maria Dolores chartered by the US Government has left the port in Tripoli now that the weather has cleared up and the waves subsided.

Many flights in to and out of Tripoli were cancelled yesterday due to the bad weather.  The US is also hopeful to get clearance today to land a chartered flight to get more people from the airport.

Libya has refused clearance for planes from many countries during this troubled time.  Including Lebanon in an apparrent rebuke for the refusing to allow a Libyan plane to land with Ghaddifi's daughter on board.  The refusal to allow clearance for a US Plane to land was the reason for the US having to charter a ferry earlier this week.

Hopefully the US chartered ferry will land safely in Malta in a few hours.  If it was dangerous to set sail earlier - I am glad they waited to protect the safety of their passengers.
