A friend in need

Posted Updated

Today, I stopped by to talk with Robert and bring him some of my home cooked chicken with tomatoes and bell pepper dinner with soy bean fried rice and vegetables.

I found out that he is not a vet, he's waiting on disability and that he has medicaid for the cancer treatments. I also found out that someone just gave him recently a TENT, so he does not need one, and he has a sleeping bag and pillow.

So, I'm going to try to help him with finding a small grill that he can use to cook and boil water.

I also found out that the only shelter in town kicks them out at 7AM and that they can't take a guy in a wheelchair because they don't have the facility for it. Isn't that just nice and they claim they help people. Shouldn't matter. I find it rude that they kick them back to the street at 7am. 8 or 9 would be decent. I mean where they suppose to put their stuff for the day so it doesn't get stolen?

I wish there was more I can do but by the sound of it, it seems he's better off in the tent. Sad to say.
