A man charged with killing eight people at a North Carolina nursing home is facing his first hearing in public nearly two months after the bloody rampage.
Robert Kenneth Stewart faces a hearing Thursday afternoon in Moore County Superior Court in the March 29 shooting at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage.
Stewart, 45, was shot by a Carthage police officer and has been in the hospital at Central Prison in Raleigh.
The prosecutor is expected to tell the court whether there are sufficient factors to warrant a death sentence if Stewart is convicted. No trial date has been set.
