So why worry ?

LEE COUNTY — It's kind of amusing to see how the liberals are howling about the tea parties that were held around the nation. From the roar of anguish and outrage you would think something momentous happened. From the finger pointing and strident cries of "This was a Republican rally" and "It wasn't non-partisan" ...one would think that really matters. It doesn't.

Who really cares what party line was over represented or underrepresented. I've voted Democratic, Republican and Libertarian in the past. The person gets my vote...not the party. I'd be ashamed to admit otherwise. But then again, that's just me.

If people are upset and want to have a tea party to voice their concerns...Why is that derided by so many on here? Is it now unpatriotic to dissent and criticize the government? It hasn't been for the last eight years. So why is it now something to be ashamed of, according to many on GOLO?

This nation was founded on dissent. This nation came into being because people gathered themselves together and decided that current government wasn't representative of their desires and aspirations. So why is it any different now?

Do not American citizens have the right to gather in protest? Is there something wrong with them exercising that right?

I don't understand why there are so many here on GOLO that hold these tea parties as something to be laughed at, something to be ridiculed...something to rant and rage about. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

In the past there have been strongly partisan "marches" on Washington. I didn't go to them either. I feel like for me, my politickin' is best exercised on election day at the polls where my vote will be cast...and hopefully counted. All of this anti-tea party rhetoric is just as partisan as what it is supposedly against.

Us and Them. Me and You. And it seems since the early 1980's, never the twain will meet. We are increasingly polarized and the on and on polemic does nothing except perhaps incite those who wouldn't have taken notice if it weren't so black and white with  the constant drum beat of the media bleatings.

As Gamaliel cautioned those who raised their voices against the early church in Israel, "Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God."

That's not to say I think this is some kind of a religious upheavel or revival, though this nation seriously needs some kind of positive change, this is to say is this is truly a grassroots movement it will gather momentum and all of the GOLO negative blogs will do nothing but waste band space. And if it's is simply a well organized political rally point from an unnamed national network...it will die and wither on the vine.

So...why worry?
