Teacher dreams, round 2

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Have you ever had one of those dreams where it was like a teen movie and suddenly there was a school scene? That's what happened to me last night...again. The last time was July 18, 2008 where I had dreamed of a teacher resembling Mrs. Welch from Adams Elementary, and it was an open house-like scene.

Fast forward 1 year 6 months later just as President-Elect Barack Obama (D-Ill.) becomes the 44th President, and - it's snowing and most of the schools in NC are closed for the day. I'm in a high school dream where student characters had to deal with an English teacher who insists on neatness. All of a sudden it cuts to a student, which she failed his essay because there were too many mistakes. This one resembled Mrs. Starnes from Daniels Middle, but this was a high school setting as mentioned earlier.

Remember my first blog post from 7/18/2008? It seems that I had forgot some teachers I had in the '90s (I had only covered elementary school teachers I had). Since then, I've had 4 dreams of teachers - one in a California college setting (I lived in Salinas), and two involving a teacher with a striking resemblance to Mrs. Cottrell from Underwood Elementary.

And yes, I still remember that three of the teachers at Daniels loved the Regis version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, which debuted on ABC in 1999. There's a strong rumor going around that they will revive the Regis version over the summer, but Regis has not yet confirmed that he wants to do the revival, since Million Dollar Password is already on CBS, and this season it's taped in the same studio as The Price Is Right, now hosted by former comedian Drew Carey since Season 36 (2007-08). That would be at CBS Television City, studio 33 out in Los Angeles, CA (also known as the "Bob Barker Studio").

It may be a lovely thought dreaming of old teachers, but once again, I'm still glad I remembered them.
