Dwayne Anthony Frazier, 41, of 522 Siltstone Place, was charged with one count each of second-degree and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and was released after posting a $25,000 bond.
Police were investigating a report made last week by a 16-year-old girl that her ex-boyfriend had raped her when they learned a man was showing people in the community portions of a videotape depicting his son and the girl involved in a sex, said Capt. Michael Williams of the Cary Police Department.
The tape was shown to an administrator at Panther Creek High School and to the mother of the girl's current boyfriend, Williams said.
The man was trying to defend his son's honor by showing the tape, Williams said, but he should have turned the tape over to police.
The rape case remains under investigation, he said.
