Carolina can thank their penalty kill for points number 76 and 77. The Canes killed off all six Minnesota power plays on the night in a game that saw the teams combine for 85 penalty minutes.

Matt Cullen tallied a goal and an assist, while Sergei Samsonov had a pair of helpers, as the Canes put away the Wild 3-2 Thursday night.

The Canes jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period behind goals from Matt Cullen and Frank Walker.

The Wild tied the score at two before Erik Cole scored his 19th just less than halfway into the game to put the Carolina ahead to stay.

The Hurricanes have won six of seven, and improved to 9-2-1 since February 12.
