Newlyweds wedding dresses stolen from car in south St. Louis

Lynda Keeton and her wife Jessie Chandler were married Saturday night in Soulard. They loaded up their wedding dresses in the car on Sunday to take to the dry cleaners, but on Monday morning they discovered someone had stolen both dresses from the van parked on Lemp and Sidney.

"I could understand a few dollars here or there or a cell phone but wedding dresses? But it's not the type of thing you try to be opportunistic about and run down the street with a couple of wedding dresses," said Keeton.

The couple has been together for 14 years and while Saturday was their dream wedding, Monday morning was a nightmare.

"Honestly it truly hasn't sunk in yet. Obviously the sentimental value is huge, can't be replaced. It's still very fresh, I haven't really gone into panic mode yet," she said.

Keeton says she thought she locked the car, but in the rush of the morning after her wedding, she can't be sure. Either way, she said their wedding dresses are such an odd thing to steal. She's hopeful through getting the word out and with the power of social media, someone will return the dresses.

"Just really hoping some way somehow they will show up," said Keeton. "Hopefully someone realizes there's really no value to them."
