New Year's Party Ends in Shooting

A Wake Forest man was in intensive care Tuesday at WakeMed after he was shot at a New Year's party, police said.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A Wake Forest man was in intensive care Tuesday at WakeMed after he was shot at a New Year's party, police said.

Joseph Orlando Jones, 41, was shot once in the chest shortly before 3 a.m. outside the residence at 537 N. Taylor St., police said. The residents were having a party, and a dispute broke out before the shooting, police said.

Kevin Wayne Day, 33, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was being held in the Wake County Jail on a $215,000 bond.
