New visitor center to open at wildlife area

Posted September 10

— The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department will be celebrating the grand opening of a new visitor center at the Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area in Addison.

The event takes place on Sept. 28 at 5 p.m.

The department says thousands of people visit the area each year to watch the fall migration of snow geese and other birds and for duck hunting or to spot a bald eagle.

The manager of the wildlife management area and visitor center says the new center will offer information ranging from the geologic history of the Champlain Valley to the ecology and breadth of species found in the area.

Amy Alfieri says it also gives visitors a place where they can ask questions and interact with experts regularly.
