Raleigh, N.C. — First up, a new cafe to report about. Kiwi Cafe and Smoothies opened its doors this week in the Wakefield area of north Raleigh. They are located in a strip near Bruno's restaurant and directly next to Impressions Hair Salon. Kiwi serves coffee, smoothies and fresh squeezed juices. They also have a breakfast and lunch menu consisting of wraps, salads and paninis.
Moving to the North Hills shopping area, we spotted a new restaurant coming to the Hyatt House area. Another Broken Egg, which already has locations in Durham and Morrisville, is expected to open early next year.
Zinburger Wine and Burger bar opens on Tuesday at the Streets at Southpoint mall.
Bull City Burger and Brewery's sister-restaurant Pompieri Pizza is hoping to open before the end of the year. Pompieri, which is located in the historic fire station number 1 across from Durham's city hall on Mangum Street, will serve wood-fired pizza.
A speakeasy-style bar and restaurant is slated for Glenwood South next year, according to the News and Observer. The new venture, which will occupy Bogart's old space, is from Vincent Barresi, who owns north Raleigh restaurant Vincent's. He is hoping to open the new place by Valentine's Day.
Lorraine's Coffee House and Music is getting closer to opening its doors. This coffee shop and sometimes live music venue will be on the corner of Timber Drive and Vandora Springs Road. The business is a venture by local bluegrass star Lorraine Jordan, according to the Garner-Cleveland Record. We spotted an "opening soon" sign there this week.
A new PDQ is opening in Fayetteville on Sunday. The latest spot for this chicken franchise is located at 552 N. McPherson Church Road.
Reminder: Straw Valley Cafe will be closed through Dec. 9 for construction of their new cafe and juicebar.
