A new swim school opened in Cary this week.

Aqua-Tots Swim School is now offering swim lessons for kids in a new indoor facility at High House Crossing shopping center on the corner of High House Road and Highway 55.

The facility includes a 48 x 28 foot indoor heated pool, a viewing area with free Wi-Fi for parents, a play area for siblings and children not participating in lessons, a snack bar and a retail area.

The owners, Andrew and Jen George, are both long-time swimmers and athletes. (They also are new parents). Andrew George, a Cary native, coached a TSA swim teach for three years and taught swim lessons for nearly a decade. Jen George swam competitively and has been teaching lessons since 1995. They have offered the Aqua-Tots program elsewhere in the Triangle.

“At Aqua-Tots, we are truly committed to our communities by teaching children safety and confidence in the water and getting a chance to watch them succeed,” said Andrew George in a press release. “With the possibility of expanding even further in the area, this new Cary location will allow us the opportunity to teach new swimmers while still providing excellent service for our existing clients in the Raleigh and Cary areas.”

Programs start for kids ages 6 months and up. Aqua-Tots is part of a national chain that started in 1991. The program focuses on the importance of water safety and instilling in kids a life-long love of swimming. I'll have more about the school in the next few weeks.
