A new dance studio is set to officially open in Morrisville this weekend.
Open Arts will include Mommy and Me programs; yoga for kids, teens and adults; musical theater; ballet; jazz; and modern dance. The studio also will offer visual arts and music workshops, along with adult yoga and art retreats.
Artistic director and studio owner Maia Wirth will teach most of the classes at Open Arts. She brings more than a decade of experience teaching in public schools and dance studios. She received her B.A. in Dance and B.S. in Music Education from Elon University where she studied as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. She also has performed as a vocalist and dancer throughout the United States and Europe and was recognized as a semi-finalist for the Wake County Public School System’s Teacher of the Year award in 2011, according to a press release.
The new 2,250-square-foot studio at 1222 Copeland Oaks Dr. includes more than 900-square-feet of movement space with a professional sprung dance floor. Classes are available for ages 18 months to adult.
A grand opening is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, with activities for families and kids, including yoga and dance games, crafts, face painting, and a free raffle.
Open houses are scheduled for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Aug. 15, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 17, and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Aug. 21, where free demo classes will be offered.
