New series: How does couponing work at your house?

Posted March 14, 2013

We are starting a new series here on the blog and it's all about YOU! We thought it would be interesting to find out how couponing works in your home.  For instance, why did you start couponing and how long have you been at it? How much time do you spend couponing and what are your favorite stores? How do you organize coupons and how much do you spend and save?

Each week I'll feature a new blog reader and her/his story.  If you would like to share your couponing story (and I hope you ALL do!), below are some questions for you to answer and send to me via e-mail. Every Thursday, I will post a new story.

I think this will be a great way to get to know each other and to see how we all make couponing work for our families, no matter how big or small they may be.

What do you think? Are you in?

Here are the questions and you can e-mail them with your answers to Use as much detail as you would like.  Feel free to include a picture of your stockpile, your coupon organizer, your family at the grocery store or any other couponing photo you want to share. I really look forward to reading your responses!

How many people are in your household?

Why did you start couponing?

How long have you been couponing?

How much do you spend on groceries and non-food essentials per week?

How much do you save each week?

How much time do you spend couponing and shopping each week?

How do you organize your coupons?

Where do you shop for groceries and non-food essentials?

Do you have a weekly/monthly grocery planning/shopping routine?

Does anyone else in your household help with couponing and saving? If so, how do they help?

What’s the worst part about couponing?

What’s the best part about couponing?

Do you have a stockpile? Feel free to send a photo if you would like.

Do you do any meal planning? If so, do you plan weekly, monthly or at the beginning of each day?

Do you have any words of wisdom for someone just getting started in couponing?

Is there anything else you want to share about your couponing journey?

I clip the coupons, put them in an envelope and put it behind the junk basket. About a month later I take the envelope to the store to find all the coupons expired!! Argh!

Julie - anyone who reads the blog is welcome to submit a story! If you live outside of the area, feel free to let us know which county you live in.

    Thanks sohappy!

What a great idea! Faye, can you talk to people from different areas? We don't all have the same stores to pick from and it would be nice to get info from several counties and not just from people in one area. This is going to be so much fun.
